Mock Election in the Adult Program

This fall, participants in our Adult Program took part in a mock election to learn more about the political process and their voting rights. While everyone took part in the election, four participants ran for Program President. Each candidate managed a campaign team, developed a platform, and canvassed for votes. They even held a spirited debate for their peers. The top issues the candidates addressed were: more transportation options, diversified field trips and community options, longer times out in the community, better computers, and more access to printers.

On November 7th participants voted, and Mr. Larry Hood was elected Program President. Larry’s first official act was placing his fellow candidates on his Advocacy Team. Together they will champion the changes they want to see in the Adult Program!
